BI Mooring Regulations
  • The Block Island mooring (#122) is available on weekends and holidays from Memorial Day through Columbus Day on a reservation only basis to SCYC members who have paid Club dues for the current Club year.  Non-holiday weekdays are available on a first-come, first-served basis.  Please refer to the Club membership list for a list of qualifying vessels.
Mooring usage is governed by the club's general mooring regulations (see "General Mooring Regs" for specifics).
  • In order to provide equal access to prime weekends and holiday time for all, club members are allotted two (2) weekend periods by advance reservation from Memorial Day through Columbus Day.  Advance reservations must be made by contacting Rear Commodore Bill Raabe @ 860.550.5364 (H) or 860.550.5364 (C).  Cancellations made to the Rear Commodore in advance due to bad weather or a serious problem, will entitle the member to another advance reservation.
Members may telephone 860.613.7357 to hear a listen-only recording of BI Mooring weekend and holiday reservation status up through Columbus Day.

If the mooring is not full with a three boat reservation by 11:59 PM on the Wednesday prior to the weekend, including the three holiday weekends, non-reserved space becomes available on a first-come, first-served basis for the weekend.
In addition to the "General Mooring Regs" the following regulations apply for the Block Island Mooring
  • The Harbormaster is provided a list of eligible SCYC boats that they use to track valid mooring vessels.  If your vessel is not included in this list the Harbormaster may ask you to remove yourself from the mooring.
  • In the event mooring privileges are revoked, the Harbormaster will be advised to remove the member's boat from the list of authorized users.
  • Town of New Shoreham officials controlling anchorages on Block Island require all vessels permit inspection of marine heads by harbor patrols.  Pump-out boats cruise the Great Salt Pond and will pump out your holding tank by prior arrangement over your VHF marine radio.  The service is free of charge; a small gratuity will be appreciated.
  • The cleaning of boat bottoms is prohibited and the Harbor Patrol monitors this.
  • Launch service - Channel 68; Pump-out - Channel 73; Harbormaster - Channel 12
